This Watson Wyatt report demonstrates the impact of effective workforce
communications policies on the overall success of businesses and organizations.
The study, coproduced with the International Association of Business Communicators
and its partner, the IABC Research Foundation, examines the state of employee
communication policies at several companies. Fifty-seven percent of the
participating companies said they do not have a formal employee communications
strategy. The study found evidence that high-performance companies, that
is, businesses that financially outperform competitors, have two-way, open
communcation policies with employees. A communications policy that is integrated
into the overall business strategy of a company is the most successful approach
to increase productivity and the bottomline, according to the study. The
report also outlines the 10 attributes of effective employee communications.
