A follow-up to an early Watson Wyatt report, the Human Captial Index provides evidence that there is a a direct link between investing in a company's human capital and the bottom line. The report gives hard data on financial returns of 500 publicly held companies. For example, the 5-year total return to shareholders for employee-friendly companies was more than double that of companies with poor people practices.
