Watson Wyatt Worldwide, July 2002.
Gathering the results on healthcare costs from 200 surveyed businesses, this report shows a steady increase in health plan expenses for employers. Report data indicates that there will be a 13.6 percent increase in costs to employees using healthcare plans provided by their employers by the end of 2002. Trends in the report also show that employee contributions to health costs will increase over the year, meaning that employees will be paying higher insurance premiums. About three-quarters of employers are considering benefit reductions or increase in copays as "likely" or "somewhat likely" methods they will use to offset health care costs in the next year. Only 10 percent reported they are “very likely” to change medical vendors.
