The current wave of corporate scandal has had a detrimental effect on public
opinion towards business practices in general and top management compensation
specifically. The report on a poll that was conducted between September
and October 2002 highlights the responses of more than 2,000 adults nationwide.
Eighty-seven percent of those polled believe that most top company managers
are unfairly compensated for the work they do, most often at the expense
of ordinary workers. The poll also found that another two-thirds of those
polled feel that workplace rewards are less fairly distributed than they
were five years ago.
