According to this survey by the Society for Human Resource Management, HR professionals and employees have slightly different perceptions about the ethics and trustworthiness of their organizations’ leadership. While 70 percent of employees surveyed rate the leadership of their companies as extremely or moderately trustworthy, a little over one in 10 consider their leadership “not at all trustworthy.” In comparison, slightly more HR professionals (72 percent) view their leadership as extremely or moderately trustworthy, with only 5 percent viewing their leadership as not at all trustworthy.
The survey revealed a greater divide between HR and other employees regarding perceptions of their leaderships’ ethics. Ninety percent of HR professionals agreed or strongly agreed that their companies were ethical compared to 70 percent of employees. One in four employees disagreed or strongly disagreed compared with only 10 percent of HR professionals. Similarly, HR professionals were far more likely to believe that their employers provided adequate information on workplace policies, corporate mission, and their organizations’ ethics and values.
The polling sample included 370 HR professionals and 407 employees.
