Winning Workplaces Releases Charles Schwab Foundation-Funded Corporate Citizenship Tool Kits
CHICAGO, Feb. 23, 2004 – Winning Workplaces announced the release of two new products targeted for small and midsize businesses: the Time Off to Volunteer Program and Employee Sponsored Community Support tool kits. These corporate citizenship how-to guides were developed with funding from the Charles Schwab Foundation.
“Charles Schwab believes strongly in helping employees learn how
to give back to their communities,” says Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz,
president of the Charles Schwab Foundation. “These tool kits provide
a blueprint for small and midsized organizations that wish to encourage
community involvement among their employees.
“Winning Workplaces’ mission of creating workplaces that are
better for people and better for business is strongly aligned with our goal
of helping Schwab employees contribute to the communities in which we operate.
We were delighted to support Winning Workplaces in promoting these kinds
of practices to small and midsized organizations.”
The Time Off to Volunteer Program tool kit provides information on how to provide employees with paid time off to pursue volunteer activities. It includes sample forms and guidelines, information on the costs of implementation, and instructions on how to set up eligibility requirements and administer the program.
The Employee Sponsored Community Support tool kit provides step-by-step guidelines on how to implement programs that allow workers to choose and support local organizations through either a company fund or employee fundraising. It includes sample forms, information on the cost of implementation and instructions on how to set up and administer various Employee Sponsored Community Support programs.
“Today, companies are expected to embody good corporate citizenship,”
says Kenneth Lehman, founder and chairman of Winning Workplaces. “These
tool kits help small and midsize organizations implement programs that provide
employees with an opportunity to contribute to the communities in which
they live and work.”
“Charles Schwab made great sense as a partner on this project,”
adds Lehman. “They have always done a terrific job of supporting their
employees’ philanthropic endeavors.”
The Time Off to Volunteer Program and Employee Sponsored Community Support tool kits are two of 48 products Winning Workplaces has developed to help small and midsize companies implement workplace best practices. Tool kits can be ordered at www.winningworkplaces.org/toolkits/index.php or by contacting Winning Workplaces at info@winningworkplaces.org.
